Partialy adopted.
Veronica is the youngest in the family, she has two siblings. She comes from Likii slum very close to Nanyuki town, where the children and their grandmother used to live in one room. The mother left the children in grandmother‘s care. The grandmother was old and had no permanent job. Veronica and her older sister were forced to beg for money and food. They lived in a very dangerous slum, so the girls were constantly at risk of rape. The case reached the area government administrator, who visited the family and accessed their situation. He later reported it to the children officer, who brought the case to OMDC and our team enrolled Veronica in the sponsorship program. Veronica’s grandmother passed away a few years ago and now the older sister takes care of the younger siblings. Veronica is a bright and very determined girl. Now she needs to pass her final exams at elementary school. If she succeeds, she would like to continue her studies at high school and then at university. Her dream is to become a doctor.

OMDC 048 Dennis Mwangi
Adopted
Dennis lives together with his parents and his younger brother in one room in a slum. Neither his mother nor his father have permanent jobs. The father occasionally earns money by working in the gardens or cleaning cars. Unfortunately, that’s not a steady income, so it does happen quite often that there is no money for food. Moreover, the minimal income is insufficient to meet basic needs. Because of lack of money, Dennis started to roam the streets instead of going to school. Luckily he was noticed by an area manager who contacted a social worker. The social worker got in touch with the OMDC team and, thanks to the OMDC, Dennis was enrolled in a sponsorship program.
Dennis is now in the 6th grade and has two more years before his final exams at the primary school. He has made great progress since entering school. Dennis’s performance and improvement are well noted.

Adopted
Rempeiyo is the third born in a family of seven. Rempeiyo had started nursery school but did not continue for long since her parents gave her to her old grandmother to stay with her and look after her goats. Rempeiyo was brought back home after the death of her grandmother but still no one cared for her education. Her role was to look after the family’s herds. The worst came when she realized that her father and uncles were planning to marry her off. This is when she decided to escape in the night when everybody in her family was asleep. She ran for many kilometers from her home up to OMDC. Her case is still in progress at the court. She is a humble girl, obedient, well organized and willing to learn. Rempeiyo was elected to the Board of management. Her dream is one day to be a doctor and be able to support her family.

Damaris se dostala na policii a odtud do bezpečí domova OMDC v Doldol. V 11 letech je holčička v 1.třídě ZŠ a daří se jí dobře.
OMDC 157 Jane Nasieku
Adopted
Jane comes from the Khumvi area and has an older brother and a younger sister. The mother left the family because of countless problems with the father of the children, so the three siblings lived only with the father. Jane Nasieku left school after finishing fifth grade because of the constant harassment and harsh punishment by her father. One day he beat her up so badly that she escaped to the police where she reported everything. Then she was taken to a safe house OMDC. But the investigation is still pending. Jane is a young girl who would like to continue studying and who really appreciates your help!
OMDC 158 Zawadi Leruma Mure

OMDC 159 Rebecca Lenasalia
Adopted
Rebecca comes from Laikipia. She has three brothers and one sisterand she is the youngest. This little girl lived only with her mother andher siblings. The reason for this was her father drunk too much andaggressively attacked mother and children. She completed class 3, but she left school because she had to care of all the family animals for a year. Rebecca found out that her father wanted to secretly marry her. She managed to escape and report everything to the police station in Dol-Dol. She found a roof over her head and a sense of security in our OMDC home.
OMDC 160 Nancy Lengerei
Adopted.
Nancy has ten siblings - five brothers and five sisters. She went to school only for 2,5 years. She became ill and left school. Nancy was forced to marry an older man already in 2015 !! Her parents got some cows for her. Her husband was aggressive and often beat her. But when Nancy escaped to her parents, they told her she has to return to her husband immediately. Nancy reported everything to the police in August 2018. Nancy would like to become a lawyer to protect and help other vulnerable girls in her community. She’s incredibly brave.
Some of the children have unknown date of birth, because mostly they are masai children and it is impossible to get the exact date of birth.
